A firm dedicated to industrial decarbonisation with H₂

RR Consulting is a technical consultancy specialised in green hydrogen. We work with high thermal-consumption industries to design, size and manage the transition of their processes from natural gas to renewable H₂.

Our approach covers the full chain: energy audit, technical feasibility, financial modelling, access to European grants and coordination with manufacturers and suppliers.

The firm is led by Romain Rollet, a senior engineer with over 20 years of experience in the energy sector, specialised in the deployment of self-consumption PV plants with BESS and now in H₂ systems integration.

How we work, in 4 steps

A clear path from first contact to the commissioning of your green hydrogen installation.

  1. Free assessment

We analyse your natural gas use and thermal processes to estimate the green H₂ potential of your plant.

  2. Feasibility study

We size the PEM electrolyser, solar PV and storage, and calculate LCOH, CAPEX, avoided emissions and payback.

  3. Funding

We identify applicable grants, build the financial model and prepare the subsidy applications.

  4. Execution

We coordinate manufacturers and integrators and supervise the project through to commissioning.

Green H₂ integration in fruit and vegetable juice pasteurisation

Agri-food Industry · Vega Baja, Alicante

A canning company with natural gas boilers for continuous juice pasteurisation. We sized a hybrid H₂ + solar PV system to substitute a significant share of gas consumption, validating technical feasibility, the financial model and access to European funding. Result: with EU grants, on-site green hydrogen reaches a cost competitive with natural gas.

Green hydrogen in industry: your questions

What does a green hydrogen consultancy do for industry?

It supports an industrial company from idea to execution of its green hydrogen (H2) project: natural gas consumption audit, technical feasibility study (sizing of the PEM electrolyser, solar PV plant and storage), calculation of the cost of hydrogen (LCOH) and payback, identification and drafting of EU grant applications, and coordination with manufacturers and integrators.

Which industries can replace natural gas with green hydrogen?

Those that burn natural gas for process heat: agri-food (pasteurisation, sterilisation, cooking), ceramics (1,200 °C kilns), chemicals and petrochemicals (where H2 is also a feedstock), textiles (steam for dyeing and finishing) and steel and metallurgy (heat treatment, forging, green steel). Substitution can be partial and gradual, as in our reference project.

Can green hydrogen compete with natural gas on cost?

Yes, with the right grants. The cost of on-site hydrogen is measured by the LCOH (levelised cost of hydrogen), which spreads investment, operating and electricity costs over the plant's lifetime. In our reference study (PEM electrolyser powered by solar PV), EU grants sharply reduce the LCOH, down to a level competitive with natural gas. Each case depends mainly on the cost of electricity, the electrolyser's operating hours and the grants obtained.

What grants are available for green hydrogen projects?

The main ones are the European Commission's Innovation Fund, the European Hydrogen Bank auctions, ERDF (FEDER) funds managed by the regions and, in Spain, the national PERTE ERHA programmes. Calls, deadlines and aid rates change every year: we identify the ones that fit your project and prepare the application.

How do I start? Is the first assessment free?

Yes. Based on your gas consumption data and a description of your thermal processes, we assess the green hydrogen potential of your site free of charge and propose the next steps. Write to us at contact@rr-h2.com.
